SNSF Agora Project 2023

the philosophy of the Swiss music scene

The Agora project "The Philosophy of the Swiss Music Scene", funded by the SNSF, aims to establish contact between philosophers and musicians (and other artists) that will hopefully be fruitful for both sides.

Not everyone who thinks about the world, society, the future and human beings always expresses them exclusively in the traditional media of academic philosophy, the journal article or the monograph. Some write shorter and different things, offer courses, write poetry or comics. Our portal is for all of these.

Still others (and sometimes the same ones) sing, paint, recite, play music, do theatre and performances. Bringing such people together with philosophers and philosophy is the aim of the Agora project.

Through these contacts we hope for cross-fertilisation, new ideas, exciting projects and the opening of new funding opportunities. We dream of a world in which those interested in it find a common language to understand, interpret, reshape and change it. a world in which philosophical knowledge in a variety of media can come to everyone.

All are invited to participate in the project. The events planned so far are listed in the side column. Suggestions and proposals for further events are very welcome!
