Launch Your Project

Every Topic is Welcome!

Your Motivation

Would you like to invest time and energy in creating philosophical content? Would you like to launch/realize a philosophical project whilst not being eligible to receive funding elsewhere?

It is possible to realize a project within the institutional framework of philosophie.ch. We pay special attention to open-access and institutional transparency.

Interested? Launch your project with us!

Launch a Project with philosophie.ch

You think there is room, need and interest for an article series on a particular topic, or around a certain question? Is there an innovative format that should be tried or a group of interesting people that should be invited to contribute? Or perhaps there is a collaborative initiative that should find its home at philosophie.ch? You are interested in visual, auditory or social media and think philosophy should be more present on them? Then start a project with us!

To start a project, consult with the portal director first. You'll need to develop a (possibly very rudimentary) work plan and agree on some (possibly very elementary) benchmarks. Then we start the work, i.e. organise, produce and publish content.

Once the project is on its way, depending on your needs and interests, we can start thinking about applying for funding. If we together decide to do so, you are responsible for the idea and the substance, the portal for the form, institutional structure and quality control.

In encouraging, managing and taking responsibility for the projects posted, the portal acts like a (helpful) university.

Before the submission of the project, which is done by the managing editor and the project leader in the name of philosophie.ch, the managing editor helps to:

  • choose the funding source;
  • consult and advise on the structure and substance of the project;
  • provide information about the portal and the synergies the project might have with other portal content.

During the project, the managing editor:

  • supervises the progress of the project;
  • administers the employment of people within the project and the payment of their salaries;
  • helps with networking and with integrating the products of the project with the other parts of the portal’s contents.

After the project, the managing editor:

  • helps to write employment certificates (if needed) for the project team members and the project leader;
  • provides the portal information needed for the final report;
  • provides the financial statement (if any) needed for the final report.

For these services, the portal receives the right to publish all results of the project under its name and receives 20% of overhead money on the total project costs, excluding only subcontracted external services such as technical assistance.

Our Motivation

As a Swiss philosophy portal and portal of Swiss philosophy, we are dependent in both functions on external content production.

  • We need philosophical substance that has to be worked out otherwise - in the context of an education, a teaching activity, private research or another philosophical project.
  • We need a broad network. Ideally, it includes all kinds of people interested in philosophy in Switzerland.

A good project helps us in these respects by providing content and getting people interested in the portal.

Division of Work

You contact us with an idea, a very rough work plan and some ideas about financing.

We turn this into one or more portal pages, ideally a thematic focus, and organize initial content.

Then we think about funding opportunities and applications, and together we create a budget.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the idea, the content and the implementation of the project, the management of the association for the form, the institutional structure and the quality control.

Prior to the submission of the project, which is done on behalf of Philosophie.ch by the executive director, you will be assisted in:

  • the selection of potential funders to which the project could be submitted;
  • the conception of the structure and the proposed course of the project;
  • parts of the project where information about the portal are needed.

During the project, the portal is responsible for the following tasks:

  • the supervision of the progress of the project and its documentation;
  • the employment of staff members within the project and the payment of their salaries;
    networking and integrating the project's products within the portal's architecture.

After the completion of the project, the management will assist

  • with the preparation of job references (if required) for the members of the project team and the project management;
  • with portal information needed for the final report (e.g. usage statistics); with the financial part of the final report.

For these services, the portal receives the right to publish all project results and an "overhead" of 20% on the total project costs, excluding subcontracted external services.
