As we generate the portal's profiles from the bibliography (which is huge), many of them are for philosophers unlikely to log in. Some are famous, and of some of these we made a list. Others are still buried in the very long list of all our profiles.
When reading some dead philosopher's work, writing and thinking about it, talking about it or them with friends or colleagues, you've certainly already asked yourself: What would they say? How would they approach, conceptualise, analyse this or that problem or question? What would they read, what would they be interested in, what would they dismiss or criticise?
Now it's time to find out.
How It Works
As part of our general editorial policy, we do not just tolerate, but welcome and encourage pseudonymous publications. You're free to choose your pseudonym, and we will not tell anyone you're using it, unless we are legally forced to do so. We have to know, however, who is who - this is why you have to tell us your real name and provide a real, personal email address if you want us to create a pseudonymous profile for you.
As "normal" pseudonyms, you can choose, for example "A Kantian", "The other Kantian", "A smarter Kantian", "Pseudo-Kant", "Über-Kant" or "Meta-Kant".
If you want to use "Kant, Immanuel", post and comment as the author of the three Critiques, you can do so as well, but you can use it only for a week. After a week, we will reset the password and possibly give it to someone else. This next impersonation of Kant will not be able to delete or change your posts and comments, but may otherwise have quite different ideas... If you provide some information on the profile (which is very welcome), the next Kant will be able to change it, though.
Be Quick and Participate in Our Competition
To boost this new format and re-start the ancestry lines of hopefully many interesting dead philosophers, all users taking over, for a week, existing profiles of dead and famous philosophers (on or not on our list of these) automatically enter the competition "Be Famous for a Week".
