Images of the Mind

Turing Centre, ETH Zürich
ETH Zürich, Rämistrasse 101, Raum ETH HG D1.1
17:15 - 18:45

Different approaches of understanding and describing the mind will be presented and discussed. Various members of ETH's Turing Centre (with different disciplinary backgrounds ranging from computer science to philosophy) will present what they take to be crucial concepts, methods, challenges, and limits in our investigations of the mental. On a biweekly basis, the course will cover computational and quantum approaches, panpsychistic and neurophenomenological frameworks, questions regarding animal minds and materialism, and, of course, interpretations of the Turing test.
