srapp -- Suisse-Romande Association of Practical Philosophy
Inaugural Conference 2008
The Inaugural Conference of the Association is being organised for December 2008 (exact dates and location TBC).
The Conference will be held over three days. The theme for the Conference is ÔBeyond the Normative/Descriptive Divide in Practical Philosophy.Õ
The Conference is designed to encourage and facilitate dialogue on methodological issues facing moral, legal and political philosophy. More specifically, it will be concerned with the extent to which practical philosophy ought to be guided and/or informed by empirical research.
A number of international visitors will be invited as keynote speakers. For the remaining time in each day, current or prospective members of the Association will be invited to present papers.
The SRAPP Reading Group is now meeting regularly to read some texts that will be of importance to the Conference. These include:
- Shaun Nichols, Sentimental Rules: On the Natural Foundation of Moral Judgement, OUP, 2004; and
- Jesse Prinz, The Emotional Construction of Morals, OUP, 2007
Comments and proposals are very welcome and will be gratefully received.
